Information on the Puggle Breed of Dog

The Best Food for your Puggle

After buying a Puggle, one of the most important decisions that you will make is what type of food to feed your dog. This may seem like an easy decision, but you need to be careful. Remember, there are quite a few dog foods on the market today. You do not want to simply buy the first bag of food that you see at the pet store.

First things first, what type of food was the breeder feeding your Puggle? This is an important question to answer because you do not want to change its diet too early. If you do, your Puggle puppy may end up getting sick. Your dog should continue to eat the same food for at least the first six months of its life.

Once you are ready to make a change, you need to consider several factors. First off, how old is your dog? You will find that pet food companies sell their blends to three age groups: puppies which are considered younger than one year old, adults which are one to five years old, and seniors which are six years or older.

To go along with the age of your dog, the size of the food is also important. A Puggle is not a toy dog, but at the same time the breed is not overly large. Since most Puggles will not weigh more than 30 pounds, you should be able to opt for a small to medium sized hard chunk food.

If soft dog food is something that you want your Puggle to try, make sure that you once again consider the details above. Both age and size are very important. Additionally, flavor comes into play a bit more when purchasing soft dog food.

All in all, you want to make sure that you are feeding your Puggle the appropriate type of dog food. This will help to keep your dog happy and healthy for years on end.
